Popuj siberianë me natyrë gjysmë nomade. Ata jetojnë në Siberinë jug-qendrore. Emri i mëparshëm i këtij grupi etnik është Tungus. Ata flasin gjuhën Evenki, e cila i takon grupit Tungustic (si gjuhët e njerëzve Ulch dhe Evens).

Sipas Rregjistrimit të Rusisë të vitit 2010, 37 131 Evenksë jetojnë në territorin e Federatës Ruse.
