Summit forskningsstasjon har vært i drift siden 1988. Den ligger på det høyeste punktet på Grønland. Den er den eneste forskningsstasjonen som ligger på både høy breddegrad (langt mot nord) og høyt over havet, og som har bemanning året rundt. Det forskes på arktiske og globale klimaprosesser og spesielt Grønlands rolle i disse klimasystemene.
