Ячейка Ферреля — это элемент глобальной атмосферной циркуляции в средних широтах (от 30° до 60°N и 30° и 60°S).
В ячейке Феррелля воздух перемещается к полюсам и востоку у поверхности, а на более крупных высотах — к экватору и западу. Это движение обратное потоку воздуха в ячейке Гадлея. Это явление играет важную роль в переносе энергии к полюсам (прежде всего тепла).
