Polar night
A period of night that lasts for at least 24 hours is called a polar night. It means that for minimum 24 hours the Sun remains below the horizon. Polar night can be experienced at latitudes above the Arctic Circle (66.5629° or 66°33’46.6’’ N) and below the Antarctic Circle (66.5629°S or 66°33’46.6’’S).
Due to the phenomena of twilight, we distinguish different kinds of polar night depending on the type of twilight.
