Veterinær retsmedicin

Udtrykket “retsmedicinsk” refererer til brugen af videnskab til at løse kriminel efterforskning. “Veterinary Forensic Forensic Medicine” er derfor brugen af videnskab (ofte DNA-analyse) for at løse undersøgelsen af ulovlig handel med vilde dyr, ulovlig jagt og anden miljøkriminalitet, der involverer vilde dyr.

Foto: Brænding af elfenben fra ulovligt jagede elefanter. DNA-analyser af elfenben bruges i dyreliv retsmedicin til at spore, hvor forbrydelsen opstod. Dette gør det lettere at finde poucherne.
