Hydrologi er studie av vand. Som geovitenskapeligt fag inkluderer det f.eks. forekomst og fordeling av vand på jorden, og hvordan dette sirkulerer i hydrologiske sykluser. Det gælder overfladevand, grundvand og atmosfærisk vand, og de biologiske, kemiske og fysiske egenskaberne til vand i alle faser (flydende, fast og gassformet).
