En indikatorart er en art, typisk et dyr eller plante, der er meget karakteristisk for miljøforholdene. Eksempler på dette er bestemte lavarter, hvilke indikerer meget lidt luft forurening, eller bestemte svampe, der indikerer en skov med gammel vækst.
