Lazarus taxon er en organisme, som dukker op igen efter dens formodede udryddelse, angivet f.eks. ved forsvinden fra fossil rekord.
F.eks. En fisk, der hedder latimeria, der troede at være uddød 70-80 millioner år siden blev fanget tilfældigt i 1938.
