Nuages orographiques

Les nuages orographiques apparaissent lorsque des masses d’air humides sont forcées par la topographie du terrain (montagnes par exemple) à s’élever en altitude à cause du relief, poussés par le vent. La masse d’air humide qui monte (les vents anabatiques) est refroidie et la vapeur d’eau dans la masse d’air se condense, créant des nuages et donc souvent des précipitations. Ce sont des nuages orographiques. Après avoir traversé le relief, les vents redescendent sous la force de la gravité (vents catabatiques) transportant de l’air plus dense et plus sec.
