Fryseindeks
Fryseindeksen er summen av antall minusgrader for alle dagene av sesongen hvor lufttemperaturen er under 0°C på et gitt tidspunkt. Når vi følger med på hvor mye denne (og en tilsvarende tineindeks) endrer seg fra år til år, kan det si oss noe om klimaendringer. Dette er også viktige indekser for ingeniører som f.eks. skal finne ut når og hvordan tekniske installasjoner best kan plasseres i terrenget.
