Erozja to mechaniczne niszczenie skał połączone z niszczeniem powstających okruchów skalnych. Wiąże się z procesem transportu osadów budujących podłoże pod wpływem wiatru, wody, lodu czy siły grawitacji.
Erozja to istotny czynnik kształtujący krajobraz, rzeźbę terenu, zarówno poprzez transport drobnego materiału (jak piasek) przez wiatr, czy też większych elementów przez przepływające wody.
