Apex predator este o specie de animal aflată în partea de sus a lanțului lui trofic, fără prădători naturali în ecosistemul său să amenințe un individ sănătos, adult din acea specie. Oamenii sunt singura amenințare directă la adresa lor. Urșii polari, crocodilii și leii africani sunt considerați apex predator.
