Thermosphere
Thermosphere is the layer of Earth’s atmosphere that begins at approx. 80 km above the Earth’s surface, where the temperature increases with altitude. The temperature increase is caused by the absorption of the UV radiation from the sun, as well as chemical processes caused by UV absorption (ionization, dissociation), which is an additional source of heat. Thermosphere ends with thermopause zone of Earth’s atmosphere, where the temperature no longer increases with increasing height. Auroras occur in thermosphere.
