Membrane bioreactor

The membrane bioreactor (MBR) is a device used for the municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. The principle of its functioning is based on two processes that run simultaneously:

  • chemical reaction – microbiological transformation of wastewater using bacteria
  • membrane separation – separation of liquid and solid fraction using the reverse osmosis process
