EGRIP Field Station
EGRIP FIeld Station Research is a 4-meter high building, the ‘Dome’, weighing 47 tons,, moved in 2015 on skis nearly 500 km across the Greenland ice sheet (in previous location it was NEEM station).
It’s an international drilling camp and a gateway to research programmes in East Greenland, aimed at gaining new and fundamental information on ice stream dynamics and improving the understanding of how ice streams will contribute to future sea-level change. The drilled core will also provide a new record of past climatic conditions from the northeastern part of the Greenland Ice Sheet which will be analysed at numerous laboratories worldwide.
