Havstrømme

En havstrøm er en strøm af vand, som strømmer mere eller mindre vedvarende i et af jordens verdenshave. Havstrømme findes på havoverfladen og dybere og de flyder både lokalt og globalt.

Havstrømme dannes ud fra de kræfter, der påvirker vandet, såsom jordens rotation. månens tiltrækning, vinden, temperaturen og forskelle i saltindhold.

Strømmene har en stor indflydelse på klima på land (især i de regioner, der grænser ud til havet) og økosystemer.
