MIMOSA

MIMOSA (Modélisation Isentrope du transport Méso-échelle de l’Ozone Stratosphérique par Advection) is a high-resolution advection model of potential vorticity (PV). It was developed at the Service d’Aéronomie within the framework of the EU-funded METRO (MEridional TRansport of Ozone in the lower stratosphere) project.

The MIMOSA model follows the movement and dynamics of the air masses in the stratosphere, studying its evolution. Since air masses in the stratosphere do not mix with air masses above or below it, MIMOSA can follow the evolution of these air masses over several days.
