Bloc de glace ou « Growler »

Un growler ou « bloc de glace » est un morceau de glace qui se détache des icebergs, des glaciers (ce processus s’appelle «vêlage») et de la plateforme de glace.

Il flotte en plein air, et pourrait être un obstacle pour les petits bateaux.

Selon la NOAA Ocean Service, un growler est un morceau de glace à moins de 1 mètre au-dessus du niveau de la mer et moins de 5 mètres de long.
