Une espèce indicatrice est une espèce, typiquement un animal ou une plante, qui est très caractéristique pour l’état de son environnement. Des exemples sont certains lichens, qui indiquent une faible pollution de l’air, ou certains champignons, qui indiquent des forêts anciennes.
