Građanski sumrak
Ujutro građanski sumrak počinje kada je geometrijsko središte Sunca 6 stupnjeva ispod horizonta i traje do izlaska sunca. Navečer sumrak počinje zalaskom sunca i završava kada je Sunčev geometrijski centar 6 stupnjeva ispod horizonta.
Tijekom civilnog sumraka, vidljive su samo najsjajnije zvijezde kao i horizont i zemaljski predmeti, tako da obično nema potrebe za umjetnom rasvjetom.
