Antarktis
Antarktis er regionen som omgir sørpolen. Antarktis inkluderer Antarktika kontinentet, og omkringliggende is og vann i Sørishavet med flere av dets skjærgårder (for eksempel Sør-Shetlandsøyene). Antarktis som region tilhører ingen stat. Før Antarktis-traktaten ble undertegnet, hevdet flere stater rett til deler av Antarktis. Etablering av traktatet om delt forvaltning betyr imidlertid at disse påstandene ikke kan trekkes i kraft.
