Polarnatt
En «natt» som varer gjennom hele døgnet kalles en polarnatt. Det betyr at i minst 24 timer ligger solen under horisonten. Polarnatt kan oppleves ved breddegrader nord for den nordlige polarsirkelen (dvs. nord for 66.56°N) og sør for den sydlige polarsirkelen (dvs. sør for 66.56°S). På grunn av det beslektede fenomenet tussmørke har vi ulike typer polarnetter (eks. nautisk og astronomisk).
