Lód tworzący się na powierzchni warstwy nawilżonej gleby. Tworzy długie, igiełkowate kryształy zorientowane prostopadle do powierzchni, na której powstają. Często na wierzchołkach kryształów znajdują się bryłki osadów. Ich długość dochodzi do kilkunastu centymetrów.
