Osady to inaczej sedymenty. Podczas erozji okruchy skalne i rozpuszczone w wodzie związki chemiczne są transportowane przez wodę, wiatr, lód lub siłę grawitacji i nagromadzane w innym miejscu jako osady. Mogą składać się z okruchów skalnych, minerałów i szczątków roślin i zwierząt.
