Torsk

Torsk lever på havbunden og har en tydelig hvid lateral linje på siden. Bagsiden har en tendens til at være grønlig til sand-brunlig og Atlanterhavstorsken kan skifte farve på bestemte vanddybder. Den vejer i gennemsnit 5-12 kg.

De to mest almindelige arter af torsk er Atlanterhavstorsken, som lever i hele Nordatlanten, og stillehavstorsken, der findes i både de østlige og vestlige regioner i det nordlige Stillehav.

Torsk er meget populær mad med en mild smag og tæt, flaget hvidt kød. Torskelever bliver brugt til at lave torskelevertran, som er en vigtig kilde til vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E og Omega-3 fedtsyrer.
