Glacial karst

Glacial karst (Cryokarst) – en række fænomener og processer som sker på overfladen og inden i en gletscher, som et resultat af is som smelter og strømmende vand, svarende til karst fænomenet, der udvikler sig i kalksten.

Geologiske formationer, der stammer fra begge disse miljøer viser mysisk lighed. Glacial karst processer giver anledning til dræningssystemer i en smeltende gletsjer.

Det interne dræningssystem er sammensat af:

  • Moulins / gletsjer møller
  • brønde
  • kaskader
  • kanaler
  • gange
  • kamre
  • karst kilder
