La cryoturbation est un processus important dans la couche active de pergélisol, dans lequel différents matériaux provenant de différentes couches de sol se mélangent entre eux, en raison de la décongélation et du gel constants.
Des matériaux de couleur différente pliés de différentes façons produisent un sol à motifs distinctifs.
