Higher plants

Higher plants, also known as vascular plants, is a large group of plants that have vascular tissues (with veins) to distribute resources through the plant. This feature allows vascular plants to evolve to a larger size than non-vascular plants (also known as lower plants). Higher plants are very rarely found in the sea.

Roughly said, this term covers all plants which can be “planted”: trees, shrubs, flowering herbs, ferns and fern relatives. However moss-like plants and green algae are more closely related to the higher plants than to the vast variety of the other lower plants they have been sorted with.
