En “growler” er et stykke is, der bryder ud fra isbjerge, gletsjere (denne proces kaldes “kælvning“) og isshelfs.
Den flyder i havet og kan være en forhindring for små både.
Ifølge NOAA Ocean Service, er en growler et stykke is som er mindre end en meter høj over havniveau og mindre end 5 meter lang.
