Μικρός όγκος πάγου
Το growler είναι ένα μικρό κομμάτι πάγου που αποσπάται από τα παγόβουνα, τους παγετώνες (η διαδικασία αυτή ονομάζεται «αποκόλληση») και από τις παγονησίδες.
Επιπλέει στο νερό και θα μπορούσε να αποτελέσει εμπόδιο για τα μικρά σκάφη.
Σύμφωνα με την NOAA Ocean Service (Εθνικός Ωκεανικός και Ατμοσφαιρικός Οργανισμός) , το growler είναι ένα κομμάτι πάγου με ύψος λιγότερο από 1 μέτρο πάνω από την επιφάνεια της θάλασσας και μήκος κάτω από 5 μέτρα.
