Sandur

Sandur er en elveslette dannet av sedimenter i smeltevann fra isbreer. Den består av sand og grus som breen har slipt fra den underliggende berggrunnen når den beveget seg. Ordet sandur er avledet fra det islandske språket. Island har verdens største elveslette Skeiðarársandur (areal 1.300 km2).
