Brun bjørn

Den brune bjørn (Ursus arctos) er den bjørn på hele planeten, der er mest udbredt i bjørnafamilien (Ursidae). Der skelnes der mellem to underarter: I Europa findes den Eurasiske Brune Bjørn (Ursus arctos arctos) og i Nord Amerika findes Grå Bjørnen (Ursus arctos horribilis).

De har forskellig størrelse og opførsel. Mens Grå Bjørnen har tendens til at være større og mere aggressiv over for mennesker, så er den Eurasiske Brune Bjørn for det meste mindre, og mere genert, undvigende og undgår kontakt med mennesker. Brune Bjørne har en vigtig rolle i vildtlivsforskning og bevarelse, da det er en paraply art, keystone art og indikator art.
