Psychrophiles

Psychrophiles are extremophilic microorganisms that are able to grow at low temperatures. The group includes bacteria, archaea, yeast and some simple plants and animals.  They are not only able to, but thrive the most at lower temperatures. These organisms live in temperatures near the freezing point of the water and are not subject to temperature control systems.
