Mislægi
Mislægi eða hiatus kemur fram í setlögunum. Þessi setlög marka langt hlé á upphleðslu jarðlagastaflans, annað hvort vegna þess að ekkert setlag myndaðist eða vegna þess að setlagið sem safnaðist fyrir hreinlega eyddist í burtu.
Mislægi kemur talsvert oft fyrir í jarðlagastaflanum. Setlögin gefa oft til kynna sérstaka atburði sem einungis verða á 100 eða 1000 ára fresti.
