Jedoma

Jedoma – o un complesso di ghiaccio ricco di carbonio – è il permafrost di età pleistocenica (formato durante l’ultima era glaciale) che contiene una quantità significativa di materiale organico con contenuto di ghiaccio del 50 al 90% in volume.

Jedoma copre circa un milione di chilometri quadrati lungo la linea costiera di 7000 km, sopratutto nella Siberia nord-orientale. Lo scioglimento del yedoma è una fonte significativa di metano atmosferico.
