Rocce metamorfiche

Il processo metamorfico avviene in ambienti specifici, dove la temperatura e la pressione raggiungono un certo livello. Le rocce metamorfiche vengono create se la pressione è superiore a 3 Kbar e la temperatura è superiore a 200° C. Tali condizioni si trovano in archi vulcanici, cinture collettive e prismi di accrezione. Il metamorfismo di contatto si verifica a bassa pressione ma ad alte temperature, proprio accanto a un’intrusione che riscalda la roccia circostante. Questi cambiamenti formano rocce specifiche con un contenuto minerale specifico che dipende dal protolito, dalla temperatura e dalla pressione.
