Lód świeży
Lód świeży to jedna z inicjalnych form lodu morskiego, jeden z początkowych etapów jego formowania, przede wszystkim na spokojnych wodach. Jest to cienka (mniej niż 10 cm grubości) skorupa lodowa, elastyczna warstwa o matowej i ciemnej powierzchni, która staje się jaśniejsza, gdy przyrasta jej grubość. Cienkie płytki arkuszy lodu przesuwają się nawzajem i tworzą tratwy coraz grubszego lodu.
