Termosfera
Warstwa ziemskiej atmosfery znajdująca się powyżej ok. 80 km nad powierzchnią Ziemi, gdzie temperatura rośnie wraz z wysokością. Jest to spowodowane pochłanianiem części promieniowania UV i zachodzeniem pod jego wpływem procesów chemicznych (jonizacji, dysocjacji), które są dodatkowym źródłem ciepła.
Termosfera rozciąga się do termopauzy, gdzie temperatura przestaje rosnąć wraz z wysokością.
W termosferze zachodzi zjawisko zorzy polarnej.
