Banchiza

Banchiza – o formă de gheață de mare, care plutește și este supusă la deformări semnificative. Cu alte cuvinte, este gheață nefixată de mal. In Arctica banchiza este supusă unor cicluri sezoniere, în timpul cărora se topește la sfârșitul primăverii și in timpul verii. Dimensiunile sale ating un minim în luna septembrie, după care cresc toamna și iarna.
