Gulf Stream

The Gulf stream is one of the strongest ocean currents. It is a warm current, originating from the Gulf of Mexico, flowing along the eastern coast of the United States towards the east coast of Canada (Newfoundland). It carries the warm water all the way to Europe. When this warm water comes to Europe it flows into the North Atlantic drift. The Gulf stream make parts of Europe, especially Scandinavian countries, Britain and Ireland warmer than they would be without the influx of the warm water from the south.
