Kur dy pllakat tektonike lëvizin drejt njëra-tjetres quhet një kufi konvergent (një zonë nen-rreshkitese). Pllaka më e rëndë oqeanike përfundimisht do të zhytet në pjatën më të lehtë kontinentale. Zinxhiri malor i Andeve është një shembull ku një pllakë e rëndë oqeanike (Pllaka Nazca) është nënshtruar nën një pjatë të lehtë kontinentale (pllaka e Amerikës së Jugut). Tabela Pllaka Tektonike.
