Hiatus
Një hiatus përfaqësohet nga një shtrat aeroplani. Ky aeroplan tregon një interval kohor që mungon në kolonën gjeologjike, ose për shkak se asgjë nuk është depozituar ose për shkak se sedimentet që janë grumbulluar janë gërryer më vonë.
Hiatuset ndodhin shpesh në kolonën gjeologjike. Sedimentet e pranishme shpesh paraqesin ngjarje specifike që mund të ndodhin vetëm një herë në 100 ose 1000 vjet.
