Brunbjørn
Brunbjørn (Ursus arctos) er bjørnearten med største spredning på jordkloden. Det finnes to underarter: i Europa har vi den eurasiske brunbjørnen (Ursus arctos arctos) og i Nord Amerika har vi grizzlybjørnen (Ursus arctos horribilis).
De to avviker i både størrelse og adferd. Grizzlybjørnen er større og mer aggressiv mot mennesker, mens eurasisk brunbjørn er mindre i størrelse, mye mer sky og unngår kontakt med mennesker. Brunbjørn er en viktig paraplyart, nøkkelart og indikatorart.
