Virvelløse dyr er dyr som ikke har ryggrad (i motsetning til virveldyr). Kjente eksempler på virvelløse dyr er insekter, krabber, snegler, muslinger, blekksprut, sjøstjerner og meitemark. De fleste dyrearter er virvelløse dyr. Et mye sitert estimat (Robert May 1988) er 97% av alle dyrearter.
