- Një Biomë është një njësi biologjike që zë një pjesë të madhe të sipërfaqes së Tokës dhe karakterizohet nga karakteristika homogjene.
- Është një zonë e madhe me një klimë të ngjashme, me vegjetacionin karakteristik dhe botën e kafshëve.
- Biomasa tipike përfshin taiga, tundra, savane, shkretëtira, stepa, pyje tropikale, pyje halore, pyje qumeshtore, dhe sot edhe akullnajat.
- Biomatet individuale ndahen nga zona të tranzicionit me gjerësi të ndryshme.
