Metanogjen
- Metanogjenet janë bakterje që, si rezultat i procesit të frymëmarrjes, prodhojnë metan – një gaz serrë i ndezshëm që prodhohet nga degradimi anaerobik i mbeturinave të bimëve.
- Mjedisi methanogjenik duhet të jetë pa oksigjen, neutral ose pak alkalik, dhe duhet të përmbajë të paktën 50% ujë.
- Shumica e metanogjeneve gjenden në moçalet dhe pellgjet.
- Ata janë gjithashtu të pranishëm në zona me ngrirje përgjatë gjithë vitit dhe akullnajat.
