Shtresë akulli
Shtresa e akullit është një mbulesë e trashë akulli, e cila po përhapet nën forcën e peshës së vet në sipërfaqen e mijëra kilometrave katrorë. Procesi i formimit të tij është i njëjtë si në rastin e akullnajave.
Shtresat më të mëdha të akullit janë: Shtresa e akullit të Grenlandës (me sipërfaqe prej 1 730 000 km2) në hemisferën veriore dhe shtresa akullnajore në Antarktidë (mbulimet e saj, së bashku me shelfet e akullit, sipërfaqja prej 13 829 000 km2) në hemisferën jugore. Rreth 99% e të gjithë akullnajave në botë vijnë prej tyre (91% e tyre nga vetë Antarktida).
