Qajaq

Kajak (qajaq i inuit) er en lang miniature båd. Det blev opfundet for 4400 år siden af gamle grønlandske inuits, som et stykke jagtudstyr. Det er et symbol på Grønland.

Qajaq var lavet af de få tilgængelige materialer – drivved, hud, knogler og sener, kajakker er oftest forbundet med sæljagt og hvaljagt.

For enkeltpersoner markerede den progressive karakter af adskillelse i kajakjagt også livsstadier af stigende betydning og forbindelse i samfundet.
