Mattak

Også kendt som maktaq, maktak, maktaq (se i Inuktitut Living Dictionary), afhængigt af nogle dialekter, der tales af Inuits, de indfødte, der bor på Grønland, eller itgilgyn i Chukchi-sprog og kyltyngyn på Nenets sprog – etniske grupper, der bor i Syberia.

Mattak er en skåret whale (sædvanligvis grønlandshval, hvidhval eller narhval) hud med spæk. serveres Oprindeligt rå, men i dag kan forbruges paneret, friturestegt eller syltede. Det er traditionel mad i Inuits, Chukchi og Nenets køkken.

Mattak er rig på vitamin C og plejede at spille en meget vigtig rolle i kost af indfødte mennesker, der bor i Artcic.
