Mattak

Mattak (andre stavemåter brukes også, se Inuktitut Living Dictionary) er en type tradisjonsmat for inuitter, chukchi- og nenetfolk (urfolk på Grønland og i Sibir). Det består av skåret hvalskinn med hud og spekk (f.eks. fra narhval). Opprinnelig serveres mattak rå, men i dag kan det bli brukt panert, dypt stekt eller syltet. Mattak er rik på vitamin C, og pleide å spille en svært viktig rolle i dietten til disse urfolkegruppene i Arktis.
